I am incredibly impressed with all of our teachers and staff engaged in professional learning, developing lessons and preparing our students and families to launch distance learning when we return from spring break on April 13. While I hope you’re taking time for yourself and your family this week, I know many are preparing for the shift to distance learning. There are a few resources to support this work that I want to make sure everyone is aware of:
- The Distance Learning HUB is available on the district intranet. To access it from home, login at http://portal.sanjuan.edu using your district credentials and select the “Distance Learning HUB” tile. You’ll find all of the resources for distance learning in one location. Be sure to check out this video for a quick tour of what’s available.
- The Fostering Successful Distance Learning video offers an overview of the strategies available to help ensure success in this brave new world.
- We’ve established a family resource hub for parents and guardians where they can find answers to many of their questions about distance learning as well as tips for how to best support their child. It can be found by visiting the Covid-19 mini-site at http://www.sanjuan.edu/covid19 and selecting “Family Resources” from the navigation.
Be sure to check the Distance Learning HUB for new resources and guidance as they become available. Later this week, we expect to have a refresher on the best settings for the Zoom meeting platform and guidance for how to help address any parent or student concerns around security and safety if it is a tool you have selected.
Whether you’re launching distance learning as part of our middle and high schools by April 15 or our elementary schools by April 20, thank you! Your support of our students, community and colleagues has been phenomenal.
Sincerely,
Kent Kern
Superintendent
