September 20th in Teacher Tech Training, Heidi Ainscow, Ellen Huls, Deanna Rafanelli, Shireen Miles, and Breshna Ghafari wanted to create or update a class website. It was a lot of fun and everyone created a class site! Ask them about it when you next see them.

We look forward to our next Teacher Tech Training at Sunrise Tech Center on October 18 at 12:30-2:30. This is paid Professional Development. Come and join us and maybe you will want to create a class website, too!

  1. On my website I have spelling words, grammar rules and raffle winners. In order to improve my student persistence I am doing a monthly raffle. For the September raffle I gave each student a slip of paper for each class they attended. Some students received seven slips of paper and new students only received one or two, depending. The students wrote their names on each slip and the youngest student pulled a name. The winner received a $10 Office Depot card. For October the prize will be a pumpkin, maybe. I'll see if this reward system increases learner persistence.

  2. This week in my High level Communication Skills class, I created a listening activity using a segment of CBS Sunday Morning which I found on You Tube. The segment is called" What happens to the stuff you return."
    Here is my plan:
1.Intro: quick survey of who shops only online, who shops only at physical stores and who does both. Who returns things?
    2. Vocab.: I assigned one of these words to groups of students to look up.: brick and mortar stores, merchandise, secondary market, liquidate, mom and pop stores, e commerce
3.Watch you tube segment to get the main idea of the piece.
    4. Watch again focusing on 10 questions I gave students
    5. Go over the answers
6 Discuss the video and it's impact on students.
